About the role
The Maintenance Generalist is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment, machinery, and facility systems to support efficient plant operations. This position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, ensuring food safety, maintaining equipment reliability, and promoting a safe work environment while adhering to Tyson Foods policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
- Maintain and promote Tyson's safety culture.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems.
- Repair and replace motors, pumps, bearings, shafts, conveyors, augers, couplings, steam and water lines.
- Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and minor electrical repairs.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, and schematics.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete required documentation.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, forklifts, and other maintenance equipment as trained and certified.
- Support emergency repairs and respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize production interruptions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by maintenance leadership.
Qualifications
- Must have 1 year maintenance experience within the immediate past 2 years.
- Rehiring Criteria: Applicant must not have worked for Tyson more than a total of 3 times prior. Applicants must also have completed at least 180 days since their last employment with Tyson.
