Maintenance Generalist MG01-MG08, A-Shift (Days) RVI-Forest, MS

Shift A days/hours are: Sunday through Tuesday 7 am to 7 pm and Wednesday 7 am to 1 pm.

About the role

This position is responsible for general maintenance throughout the plant while adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and promote the Tyson safety culture
• Receive training as required
• Perform various positions as assigned
• Use basic hand tools
• Perform welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, and replacement of motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water and steam pipes, lines, and systems
• Monitor boiler and perform chemical tests on boiler
• Read drawings and schematics of hydraulic and basic electrical systems
• Operate various pieces of gas/hydraulic motors/lifts (certification required)
• Further education through outside training, company testing programs, and vendor training
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• Basic mechanical or maintenance skills
• Knowledge in welding, hydraulics, basic electricity, power transmission, pneumatics, and plumbing
• 1 year or more experience in welding and industrial maintenance
• Able to read and understand assignments
• Able to communicate orally and in writing
• Able to hear and respond to two-way radio
• Able to lift 50 pounds
• Able to climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet
• Able to stand for long periods of time
• Able to withstand extreme hot, cold, inclement weather, and odors
• Basic knowledge of math
• Able to use various electrical and pneumatic power tools and equipment
• At least 1 year of maintenance/mechanical experience
• 6 months of continuous employment in the last 2 years
• Respirator qualification preferred

Work Environment

• Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, and outside weather conditions
• Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and vibration
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
