Maintenance Generalist MG05
About the role
This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Connects electrical wiring and cables; installs lighting fixtures, outlets, switches, wall boxes, and terminal boards (20%)
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments; repairs or replaces defective parts; reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor (20%)
- Follow lock out tag out guidelines and procedures when performing activities that require lock out tag out; performs generator test runs each week (10%)
- Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as:
- Preventive maintenance program for all farm vehicles and poultry houses (50%)
Requirements
- Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months.
- Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
- Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
- Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, 1 year verifiable driving experience with a clean safety record.
- Maintain fork lift certification or be able to obtain certification.
- Must be able to read, write, and have simple math skills.
- Maintain good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Guidelines.
- Physical demands include standing majority of shift, walking, sitting, using hands to handle or feel objects and controls, reaching with hands and arms, balancing, climbing/ladder usage, talking or hearing, driving a vehicle within the farm complex, operating trailer/tractor/skidsteer/hyster, and proficiently operating trailer/tractor/skidsteer/hyster.
- Personal protective equipment required includes safety glasses, safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots; fall protection harness when on top of feed truck; ear plugs as required; NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators as needed.
- Chemicals commonly used include disinfectants such as Synergize, My-T-Kleen Barnwash, Lysol, Formaldehyde, parts cleaners, etc.
- Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
- Education: Must be able to read, write, and have simple math skills. Must have good oral and written communication skills. Must have a valid driver’s license, 1 year verifiable driving experience with a clean safety record. Fork lift certified or able to obtain certification. Maintain maximum point level of 8.

Pay
Starting Pay: $22.95 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.

Additional compensation may be available for this position based on various factors such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonuses.

Schedule
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (rotating on-call weekends), including holidays
Typically these positions generally average 40 hours a week. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.
