Starting pay: $22.95 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights, and weekends.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months (extended to 18 months for layoffs or child/elder care).
  • Previous work history does not apply to applicants who have been full-time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria: minimum waiting period of 180 days; no more than 3 prior employments at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.
  • Priority consideration for internal applicants and those with previous agricultural or production experience.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance for all farm vehicles and poultry houses (50% of duties).
  • Connect electrical wiring and cables; install lighting fixtures, outlets, switches, wall boxes, and terminal boards (20% of duties).
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments; repair or replace defective parts; report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor (20% of duties).
  • Follow lock out tag out guidelines and procedures; perform generator test runs each week (10% of duties).
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read, write, and perform simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License with 1 year of verifiable driving experience and a clean safety record.
  • Forklift certified or able to obtain certification.
  • Maintain a maximum point level of 8.

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements

  • Shower and change clothing/footwear before entering the facility (provided by the company).
  • No jewelry may be worn except medical ID jewelry; body piercings must be covered by appropriate clothing.
  • Must sign an agreement to avoid contact with any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (e.g., vehicle parts, fan motors, tools).
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 2000 pounds using tools such as pallet jacks (e.g., skids of supplies, on-farm equipment).
  • Stand for the majority of the shift on concrete floors; walk, sit, use hands to handle objects/controls, reach with hands and arms, balance, climb ladders, talk, hear, and drive vehicles within the farm complex.
  • Proficiently operate trailer/tractor/skidsteer/hyster.
  • Specific vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy, and cold environments.

Tools and Equipment

  • Power tools

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Required

  • Safety glasses, safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, rubber boots
  • Fall protection harness when on top of feed truck
  • Ear plugs as required
  • NIOSH-approved N95 particulate respirators as needed

Chemicals Commonly Used

  • Disinfectants (Synergize, My-T-Kleen Barnwash, Lysol, Formaldehyde)
  • Parts cleaners

Safety

  • Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock Out Tag Out, and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Identify, address, and mitigate safety-related risks.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Rotating on-call weekends, including holidays.
  • Typically averages 40 hours per week; schedule subject to change based on production needs.

Location: Pocomoke Farm, Pocomoke, MD

Relocation assistance is not eligible for this position.
