About the role

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This position could work in any department of the feed mill.

Responsibilities

  • Standing, walking, bending, stretching, twisting, climbing, pushing and pulling up to 300lb buggies, and reaching are required in all areas.
  • Lifting is required in many areas (weight depends upon area).
  • Working on elevated surfaces is required in some areas.
  • Communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Possess basic math and computer skills.
  • Enter data into handheld computer system.
  • Use basic hand tools, operate power tools and all automated equipment, saws, sheet metal shears, drills, grinders and ladders as needed.
  • Observe the use of specialized equipment and ensure proper utilization.
  • Keep machines maintained and clean.
  • Work alongside contractors to ensure proper equipment usage.
  • Complete training to properly set up, operate, and shut down equipment.
  • Perform physical tasks as required by the job.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months operator experience with one employer in the previous 12-months.
  • Three to five years related experience with at least three years in an industrial setting/relevant work experience.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent to include Technical or Vocational Diploma preferred, or combination of equivalent experience and education in a related field in lieu of a Diploma.

Qualifications

Must reside in a 30-mile radius of the facility. Days and hours may vary. Must have the ability to fabricate by welding and cutting. Must be able to read and write in order to follow Tyson preventive maintenance program. Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild or exotic fowl to be considered.

Skills

Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess basic math and computer skills. Must be able to use basic hand tools, operate power tools and all automated equipment, saws, sheet metal shears, drills, grinders and ladders as needed. Must be able to obtain powered industrial truck certification (PIT).

  • Former Tyson Team Members must be separated from the company for a minimum of 180 calendar days.
