About the Role
This is a trainee position focused on learning preventative maintenance, equipment rebuilding, facility repairs, and troubleshooting in a fast-paced production environment. You will train on the computerized maintenance management system, perform machine adjustments during production, and repair equipment during mechanical failures. Trainees may rotate shifts or departments and must follow all safety regulations.
Internal candidates are considered first. If no internal candidates are selected, external applicants with prior industrial maintenance, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, or fabrication experience will be preferred. Successful candidates must complete the Maintenance Skills Training Program within the allotted time frame or face pay changes, position changes, or termination.
Former Tyson Team Members must be separated from the company for a minimum of 180 days to be eligible for rehire. Those terminated for gross misconduct or who have worked at Tyson three or more times are not eligible.
Responsibilities
- Train to perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
- Rebuild equipment as directed by supervisor
- Perform facility repairs within your area
- Make machine adjustments during production periods
- Repair equipment during mechanical failures
- Learn and use the computerized maintenance management system
- Communicate effectively with proper personnel
- Abide by all safety regulations
- Complete the Maintenance Skills Training Program within the required time frame
Requirements
- 3 months of mechanical experience OR enrollment/completion of an automotive/mechanical degree or training program
- Ability to learn troubleshooting skills and use computerized maintenance programs
- Willingness and ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must pass all required levels of the Maintenance Skills Training Program within the allotted time frame
Prior experience in industrial maintenance, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, or fabrication is preferred for external candidates.
