Responsibilities

  • Manages and supports the Maintenance Field Operations Managers in their daily operational responsibilities across their assigned books of business.
  • Holds Field Operations Managers accountable for quality, production, staffing, communication, and budget performance for maintenance hours and irrigation billable hours.
  • Ensures Field Operations Managers are actively enforcing company safety policies, conducting safety meetings, investigating incidents, and driving corrective actions to reduce accidents and injuries.
  • Conducts regular one-on-ones with direct reports to review priorities, performance, challenges, and development needs.
  • Provides informal on-the-job training and coaching to help Field Operations Managers improve leadership, scheduling, quality control, labor management, and financial performance.
  • Reinforces Green Summit policies, operational standards, and best practices with all direct reports.
  • Makes sure Field Operations Managers are monitoring the operational performance of each book of business, including hours, gross margin, route efficiency, quality execution, staffing effectiveness, and responsiveness.
  • Reviews team performance metrics regularly and escalates major issues, trends, or risks to the Director of Field Operations.
  • Supports Field Operations Managers in solving daily operational issues including staffing shortages, quality concerns, customer escalations, routing challenges, and production bottlenecks.
  • Works closely with the Director of Field Operations to ensure the weekly production schedule is aligned with labor capacity, seasonal demands, and job budget expectations.
  • Aids in route optimization, workload balancing, and resource allocation across maintenance operations.
  • Meets on-site with Field Operations Managers, crews, and field team members when needed to provide support, reinforce standards, and resolve operational issues.
  • Helps Field Operations Managers train and develop Crew Leaders, crews, irrigation technicians, spray technicians, and other field personnel.
  • Supports transitions in books of business, area realignments, staffing changes, and expansion efforts to maintain continuity of service and execution.
  • Collaborates with customer service and account management team members as needed to ensure strong communication and execution on hotlist items, service issues, and customer expectations.
  • Participates in operational meetings and helps ensure commitments made by the field team are followed through.
  • Assists with snow and ice management operations as needed, including staffing readiness, routing support, and operational response during events.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of landscape maintenance operations experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience, including managing supervisors or managers.
  • Proven ability to lead and hold managers accountable.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance operations, including labor planning, routing, quality control, staffing, safety, and budget performance.
  • Ability to use KPIs, scorecards, and operational reports to drive performance.
  • Strong coaching, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated success improving performance through other leaders, not just personal execution.
  • Strong organizational skills, follow-through, and decision-making ability.
  • Proficiency with operational software, email, and spreadsheets.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between branches and job sites.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Snow and ice management experience preferred, if applicable.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.
  • Work Environment: This position operates in both office and field environments. Regular travel between branches, customer properties, and job sites is required. The role may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, landscape equipment, noise, dust, and uneven terrain while supporting field operations. Often times will be working alone and therefore required to be self-motivated and self-starting to accomplish the job duties and responsibilities.
