Position Summary

The Maintenance & Facilities Manager is responsible for the leadership, planning, and execution of all maintenance, facilities, utilities, engineering, and capital improvement activities for the manufacturing facility. This position ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment, building systems, and plant infrastructure while leading a team of maintenance professionals and managing contractors, budgets, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Reliability
    Lead and supervise the maintenance team, including mechanical and electrical technicians.
    Establish maintenance priorities to maximize equipment uptime and support production schedules.
    Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all production equipment and facility assets.
    Provide technical leadership and hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, and automation systems.
    Coordinate emergency repairs and participate in an on-call rotation to support plant operations.

  • Facilities & Utilities
    Manage all building systems and plant utilities, including electrical distribution, compressed air, HVAC, steam, water systems, and other facility infrastructure.
    Ensure reliable operation of facility equipment while maintaining regulatory compliance.
    Serve as the primary contact for utility providers, municipal agencies, and facility-related service providers.

  • Engineering & Capital Projects
    Lead facility improvement and capital projects from planning through implementation.
    Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and contractor work plans.
    Coordinate equipment installations, facility modifications, and process improvements.
    Support engineering documentation, including AutoCAD drawings and equipment layouts.

  • Inventory & Asset Management
    Manage maintenance parts inventory and storeroom operations.
    Control purchasing of maintenance materials, tools, and equipment.
    Optimize inventory levels while maintaining critical spare parts availability.

  • Contractor & Vendor Management
    Develop scopes of work and manage outside contractors and service providers.
    Oversee contractor safety, work quality, scheduling, and project completion.
    Review vendor performance, invoices, and service agreements.

  • Compliance, Safety & Environmental
    Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, environmental, and local regulatory requirements.
    Manage inspection and compliance programs for boilers, hoists, fire protection systems, hazardous waste, and other regulated equipment.
    Support plant safety initiatives including Lockout/Tagout, electrical safety, and preventive maintenance compliance.
    Maintain required maintenance and regulatory documentation.

  • Leadership
    Recruit, train, coach, and develop maintenance personnel.
    Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development.
    Establish departmental goals, schedules, and performance metrics.
    Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
    Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to support business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
    Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance Management, or a related field preferred.
    Minimum 5 years of progressive maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
    Experience managing maintenance teams, contractors, budgets, and capital projects.

  • Technical Knowledge
    Strong knowledge of: Mechanical systems, Industrial electrical systems, PLCs and industrial controls, Hydraulics and pneumatics, Preventive and predictive maintenance, Facility infrastructure and utilities, Electrical power distribution.
    Experience with CMMS or ERP systems (Syspro preferred).

  • Proficiency
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
    AutoCAD experience preferred.

  • Certifications
    Licensed Electrician preferred.

  • Work Requirements
    Valid Driver's License required.

  • Physical Requirements
    The employee must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, reach, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
    Work requires exposure to manufacturing environments including moving machinery, elevated noise levels, and varying temperatures.

Working Conditions

This position is primarily based in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to production equipment, mechanical systems, and industrial utilities. The Maintenance & Facilities Manager is expected to be available outside normal business hours as necessary to support emergency maintenance, facility issues, and critical production requirements.
