Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson Foods will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 90 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.

Pay

$22.35 - $31.95 per hour (based on experience) plus $2 attendance bonus, $2 premium, and $3 shift differential for B shift.

Schedule

Rotating 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule:

  • 1st Shift: 5:30 am – 5:30 pm or upon completion of assigned work
  • B Shift: 5:30 pm – 5:30 am or upon completion of assigned work

About the role

The fabricator is responsible for fabricating new parts and repairing existing systems using various welding processes. This position assists maintenance in all areas to ensure the facility runs at peak efficiency before, during, and/or after production.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate equipment malfunctions, corrective actions, and quality problems through appropriate departmental channels.
  • Perform duties within guidelines of company GMPs, HACCP, PSM Program, Company Policies, and Safety Programs (LOTO).
  • Assist Maintenance team members on rebuilds, installs, and general projects throughout the facility.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, reports, and departmental forms.
  • Perform preventive maintenance checks and inspections on assigned equipment, report findings, and take appropriate action.
  • Complete welding projects using various ferrous materials and test/inspect welded structures for quality assurance.
  • Assist in covering the floor with maintenance associates when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to weld using GTAW, SMAW, and GMAW processes, primarily stainless steel GTAW.
  • Ability to design, read, and interpret blueprints, including rough drafts.
  • Ability to use hand tools and trade-type tools.
  • Ability to identify industry-standard parts.
  • Able to work independently or as a team in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Willingness to work overtime.
  • Maintenance Management assessment and referral required.

Qualifications

  • A two-year program in fabrication or welding, or 2 years of verifiable experience as a fabricator.
  • Experience using GTAW process with stainless steel is preferred.
  • Some training in electrical principles and troubleshooting preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Computer skills, including general knowledge of Microsoft Office or related training, preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand/Walk: Continuously (at least 8 hours a day).
  • Lift/Carry: Frequently (1-10 lbs.), occasionally (up to 35-50 lbs.).
  • Grasp: Frequently (3-4 hours a day).
  • Occasionally bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder, crouch, kneel, push/pull.
  • Continuously work around moving machinery, both inside and outside with changes in temperature and humidity.
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, occasionally working on a ladder at unprotected heights, around dead birds, and strong chicken odor.
