Maintenance Electrician
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots, programs, and maintains PLC’s
- Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits
- Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools
- Replaces faulty switches, and other elements of electrical and mechanical systems
- Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures
- Installs, repairs, overhauls, modifies and maintains electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery
- Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electrical, electronic, and mechanical components throughout the Plant
- Maintains Plant power distribution systems, including performing preventive maintenance, and installing wiring, conduit and apparatus
Education and Experience
- Journeyman Electrician or hold an electrical license
- At least 5 years industrial experience preferable in food plant or with high-speed packaging equipment
Knowledge and Skills
- Diagnose electrical and controls problems and make the proper repairs
- Read and communicate in the "English Language" in order to read and understand electrical prints
- Wire high and low voltage including control power
- Lay out a wiring project from transformer to equipment
- Be proficient with PC and PLC controls and logic. Working knowledge and experience with Ladder Logic
- Use electronic and electrical test equipment including digital and analog volt and ohm-meters, oscilloscopes, data analyzers and circuit testers
- Understand and demonstrate ability to use electronic and electrical concepts and operating safety

Physical Demands
All jobs require sufficient physical strength and dexterity to perform the required tasks. Typically, they involve intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Work Environment
Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day. Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required. Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements. Certain jobs may require exposure to outside and/or adverse temperatures, exposure to chemicals, fumes, and food allergens, and working in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
