Maintenance Electrical Technician

Job Duties

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Use appropriate tools and test instruments to diagnose, isolate, and correct malfunctions.
  • Performs emergency repairs in a timely manner to offset excessive downtime and production delays.
  • Performs preventative maintenance functions and work orders as directed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment.
  • Demonstrate strong working knowledge of AC and DC systems.
  • Install and maintain electrical systems throughout the facility to provide power in accordance with NFPA 70 - National Electrical Code.
  • Work with voltages of up to 600VAC and 1000VDC.
  • Replace conduit, wirings, fuses, and circuit breakers as needed.
  • Work with DC motors with voltages up to 500VDC.
  • Apply Ω’s Law for advanced troubleshooting of electrical malfunctions.
  • Use appropriate equipment required to perform insulation tests for advanced troubleshooting of electrical motors and wiring systems – must be able to correctly use a megger with 1000VDC test voltage.
  • Must be able to connect three phase motors of various electrical configurations, including wye start delta run, two speed motors, 6 lead motors, 9 lead motors and 12 lead motors, and with voltages that may include: 240VAC, 380VAC, 400VAC, 480VAC, 600VAC.
  • Must be able to correctly connect and tap transformers, both single phase and three phase, including step and step down, buck boost, wye or delta, and for voltages that may include: 12VAC, 24VAC, 120VAC, 120/208VAC, 240VAC, 380VAC, 380/220VAC, 400VAC, 400/230VAC, 480VAC, 480/277VAC, 600VAC.
  • Comply with safety precautions, such as LOTO, when troubleshooting and repairing high-voltage equipment.
  • Proceed on assignments with minimum supervision and guidance.
  • Any activity that is required to maintain ISO certification.

Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of AC and DC systems.
  • Experience with electrical installations and repairs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 - National Electrical Code.
  • Experience with DC motors and transformers.
  • Ability to connect various types of electrical motors and transformers.
  • Experience with insulation testing and Ω’s Law.
  • Experience with high-voltage equipment and safety protocols.
