Position Summary
The Maintenance Director is responsible for the overall maintenance of the facility. By performing repairs and maintenance on equipment and supplies, organizing and maintaining a clean, safe environment; overseeing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, water/sewage, and fire alarm systems; following infection control and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Facility Maintenance and Safety Plan, organize, and maintain a clean, safe environment; oversee plumbing, electrical, HVAC, water/sewage, and fire alarm systems; follow infection control and safety procedures.
- Preventive and Routine Maintenance
- Perform, document, and coordinate routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance programs;
- Manage outside areas and contractor visits;
- Staff Supervision and Development
- Supervise, train, and evaluate maintenance staff;
- Delegate duties, conduct performance evaluations, and participate in hiring, disciplining, and promotions;
- Equipment and Supply Management
- Order, receive, store, and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies;
- Document purchases and coordinate repairs as needed;
- Compliance and Policy Adherence
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations;
- Participate in inspections, audits, QA meetings, and policy development;
- Maintain knowledge of MN Department of Health regulations and residents’ rights;
- Professionalism and Continuous Improvement
- Promote positive workplace culture, strong customer service, continuous quality improvement, and teamwork;
- Attend continuing education and support other departments as needed;
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of general maintenance, such as boilers, heating and air conditioning units, refrigerators and freezers, electrical wiring, etc.
- Boiler license is required.
- Must possess leadership ability and the ability and willingness to cooperate and communicate with all staff and Department Directors.
- Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community
- Minnesota Engineer-Class C license is preferred
- At least 21 years of age and have completed the 12th grade of High School
- Two (2) years of experience in maintenance and power plant work is desirable.
