Position Summary

The Maintenance Director is responsible for the overall maintenance of the facility. By performing repairs and maintenance on equipment and supplies, organizing and maintaining a clean, safe environment; overseeing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, water/sewage, and fire alarm systems; following infection control and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Facility Maintenance and Safety Plan, organize, and maintain a clean, safe environment; oversee plumbing, electrical, HVAC, water/sewage, and fire alarm systems; follow infection control and safety procedures.
• Preventive and Routine Maintenance
• Perform, document, and coordinate routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance programs;
• Manage outside areas and contractor visits;
• Staff Supervision and Development
• Supervise, train, and evaluate maintenance staff;
• Delegate duties, conduct performance evaluations, and participate in hiring, disciplining, and promotions;
• Equipment and Supply Management
• Order, receive, store, and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies;
• Document purchases and coordinate repairs as needed;
• Compliance and Policy Adherence
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations;
• Participate in inspections, audits, QA meetings, and policy development;
• Maintain knowledge of MN Department of Health regulations and residents’ rights;
• Professionalism and Continuous Improvement
• Promote positive workplace culture, strong customer service, continuous quality improvement, and teamwork;
• Attend continuing education and support other departments as needed;

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of general maintenance, such as boilers, heating and air conditioning units, refrigerators and freezers, electrical wiring, etc.
• Boiler license is required.
• Must possess leadership ability and the ability and willingness to cooperate and communicate with all staff and Department Directors.
• Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community
• Minnesota Engineer-Class C license is preferred
• At least 21 years of age and have completed the 12th grade of High School
• Two (2) years of experience in maintenance and power plant work is desirable.
