What You'll Do
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs, to ensure the proper functioning of equipment and systems throughout the facility.
- Help maintain the exterior grounds of the facility, including landscaping, lawn care, snow removal, and outdoor maintenance, to create a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance on facility equipment, such as elevators, generators, and fire safety systems, to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and the safety of residents and staff.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, monitoring usage and replenishing stock as needed to support maintenance operations and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with other departments, including nursing, housekeeping, and administration, to address maintenance-related issues, respond to resident requests, and support the overall functioning of the facility.

Qualifications of a Maintenance Assistant
- A high school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in maintenance or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or related field, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
- Knowledge of basic maintenance principles, techniques, and tools, with proficiency in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining a strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Commitment to upholding safety standards, regulatory compliance, and ethical conduct in all aspects of maintenance operations.
