Maintenance Assistant- 2nd Shift
Summary of Responsibilities
To perform with limited supervision, repairing and maintaining equipment and building structures at the Lena facility.
Employees are responsible for understanding and complying with the Current Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety guidelines to ensure that quality food products are manufactured in a sanitary production environment and delivered with superior protection to our customers and consumers.
Major Responsibilities
- Perform with limited supervision the following:
- Mechanical: repair, rebuild, install, construct, equipment used in the facility, which includes but is not limited to welding, lubricating, cleaning, inspecting, evaluating, plumbing, painting, and general construction.
- Capable of evaluating operating condition of all equipment in facility.
- Building: renovations, modifications, construction, and inspection.
- Electrical: minor electrical repairs, motor hook-ups.
- Preventative Maintenance: lubrication, record keeping and equipment monitoring.
- Operating hand trucks, pick up trucks, and forklifts.
- Maintenance parts and supply inventory.
- Communicate with necessary personnel, discuss maintenance related issues influencing plant activities.
- Gather relevant data from appropriate sources.
- Analyze impact of decisions before executing.
- Recognize problems and enlist assistance when necessary.
- Aid in maintaining a clean and orderly workplace by exhibiting proper housekeeping practice.

- Recognize safety hazards as related to position.
- Work to maintain safe work environment for all plant employees.
Special Skills Required
- Strong mechanical and electrical abilities.
- Full working knowledge of shop hand tools and their uses.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively work with others.
- Must be physically capable of performing medium to heavy work, with frequent lifting and carrying a maximum of 100 lbs.
- Must also be capable to do occasional climbing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crouching, reaching and handling, as well as frequent standing/walking.
- Must successfully pass the Saputo provided training for Pasteurization within the first week in this position.
- Also, must successfully obtain a pasteurization certificate within 12 months of being in this position.

Pay
Hourly rate - $28.36
