Position Summary

Support current and future implementations of Unisys ClearPath MCP mainframes and related system software and hardware with a goal of maintaining maximum performance and reliability in the TCH mainframe environment.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a combination of equivalent education and experience in systems configuration, programming, and integration
  • Knowledge of systems programming concepts such as table and bit manipulation, messaging, queuing, database organization and disk I/O
  • Experience with Unisys ClearPath Libra mainframe hardware installation and configuration including:
    • Experience with Unisys ClearPath Software Series VM based system installation and configuration
    • General knowledge of Windows networking and iSCSI concepts
    • Knowledge of the integration of the Microsoft Windows server, Linux server and Unisys mainframe environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of Unisys MCP mainframe operating environment and utilities including:
    • DMSII
    • COMS
    • CCF
    • Security Center
    • System Assistant
    • NX/Services
    • OLEDB
    • Secure-Transport
    • SIMPLE INSTALL
    • Log Analyzer
    • CANDE / WFL
    • Programmer’s Work Bench
    • MCP based disk mirroring
  • Filing incidents with Unisys support and providing supporting files such as system and program dumps
  • Ability to interpret program dumps
  • Extensive knowledge of the use of LOGANALYZER and the various log entries found in the SUMLOG
  • Knowledge of Unisys software compilation and patching process including:
    • Obtaining and installing Interim Corrections for MCP
    • Obtaining and installing Interim Corrections for system software
    • Compiling system software with local patches
  • Unisys networking concepts including:
    • TCP/IP routing and addressing
    • Libra network host initialization files
    • NX/NET as used in the Libra environment
    • Win RPC
  • Mainframe storage and SAN setup configuration skills (EMC storage arrays and Cisco MDS switching)
  • Knowledge of cloud service providers (AWS & Microsoft Azure) and general cloud computing concepts

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Performing highly technical system configuration and programming
  • Installation and configuration of mainframe systems and related devices for network and storage system connectivity
  • Work collaboratively with other Operations and Technology teams, users, and product stakeholders
  • Serve as an internal consultant to systems development staff for information on components of the operating system including file management routines, system performance analysis and software enhancements
  • Develop utility software to perform system or application related automation tasks

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is generally sedentary in nature. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Additional Functions and Responsibilities

Employees in this position will report to the office 3 days per week. Occasional travel may be required. Onsite work requirements may change at any time.
