Mainframe DBA - Model 204

Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize database management systems, ensuring peak performance through configuration, installation, and tuning.
- Manage user access and implement security protocols to protect data from unauthorized access and external threats.
- Conduct capacity planning and growth projections based on usage to ensure system scalability.
- Coordinate systematic database project plans with cross-functional teams to align with organizational goals.
- Propose and implement enhancements to improve system performance and reliability.
- Develop and maintain backup and recovery plans to protect systems in the event of failure.
- Support end users and application developers in resolving complex database-related issues.
- Administer, maintain, and tune Model 204 (M204) databases in IBM z/OS mainframe environments.
- Support database design, capacity planning, change management, problem resolution, and production operations while ensuring availability, integrity, and performance.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to implement enhancements, manage access controls, and support mission-critical business applications.
Requirements
- Experience with the administration, maintenance, performance tuning, security, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery of Model 204 (M204) databases in IBM z/OS mainframe environments.
- Familiarity with M204 utilities and tools such as FAST/REORG, SOFTSPY, SIRSCAN, Horizon, and MQ/204.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with M204 version upgrades and maintenance.
- RACF-based security integration.
Pay
The base compensation range for this position in the U.S. is $100,080 to $190,080 based on a full-time schedule. Actual compensation may vary depending on geography, relevant skills, education, experience, certifications, internal pay equity, and market considerations. Specific ranges for other locations include:
- California (San Francisco Bay Area): $120,120 to $228,000
- California (All Other): $110,040 to $209,040
- Colorado: $100,080 to $190,080
- Massachusetts/Virginia: $100,080 to $209,040
- New York City: $120,120 to $228,000
- Washington: $110,040 to $209,040
- Washington DC: $110,040 to $209,040
This position is eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance. Sales commission-eligible roles participate in a sales commission plan instead of the bonus program.
