About the role
Bring your specialist knowledge and experience to a company managing 50% of the world’s MIPS and help shape the foundation of the technology that drives our world. You’ll join a global community of experts leading mainframe modernization, where knowledge is shared openly and collaboration is encouraged. In this role, you’ll manage and administer the backbone of our technological infrastructure, architecting system definitions, structures, and documentation to ensure long-term business success.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize database management systems (configuration, installation, and performance tuning).
- Set and enforce security protocols, including user access management and data protection policies.
- Conduct capacity planning and growth projections based on system usage.
- Collaborate with teams to develop and align database project plans with organizational goals.
- Propose and implement enhancements to improve system performance and reliability.
- Develop and maintain backup and recovery plans for system protection.
- Support end users and application developers in resolving complex database issues.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support for production environments on a rotational basis.
- Resolve incidents and problems based on customer service level requirements.
- Execute DB2 utilities (Reorg, Runstats, Copy, Load, Unload, Modify, Check, Recover, Rebuild).
- Execute DB2 commands (Stop, Start, Display, Cancel, etc.).
- Document solutions and implement changes for resolved problems.
- Manage DB2 security (RACF, Grants, Revokes, Roles, Privileges).
- Review logical designs and provide recommendations for physical implementation.
- Design and prepare application database changes (e.g., adding or modifying structures).
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience with DB2 V12 and V13 on z/OS.
- At least 3 years of experience with z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, and DB2 utilities.
- At least 3 years of experience executing DDL (Database Definition Language).
- At least 3 years of experience in capacity and performance management.
- At least 3 years of experience with DB2 backup and recovery.
- At least 3 years of experience applying problem-solving techniques to database issues.
- At least 3 years of experience in database monitoring, maintenance, and administration.
- Fluent in English.
- Understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL) and DB2 performance tuning.
- Ability to follow processes for Change, Incident, Problem, Availability, Service Level, and Capacity Management.
Pay
The base compensation range for this position in the U.S. is $100,080 to $190,080 annually, based on a full-time schedule. Actual compensation may vary depending on geography, skills, education, experience, certifications, internal pay equity, and market considerations. Different ranges apply for specific locations:
- California (San Francisco Bay Area): $120,120 to $228,000
- California (All Other): $110,040 to $209,040
- Colorado: $100,080 to $190,080
- Massachusetts/Virginia: $100,080 to $209,040
- New York City: $120,120 to $228,000
- Washington: $110,040 to $209,040
- Washington DC: $110,040 to $209,040
This position is eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance. Sales commission plans may apply instead of the bonus program for eligible roles.
