Mainframe CICS / COBOL Developer

About the role

A financial firm based in NYC is seeking a COBOL Programmer Analyst to handle production support, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and application assistance. The position focuses on maintaining, enhancing, and designing programs and utilities in an IBM VSE/ESA, COBOL, VSAM, and CICS environment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate user requests, estimate duration for enhancements or new modules, and assess compatibility with the current system.
• Analyze and develop design specifications into detailed flows for coding.
• Plan, develop, test, and document computer programs using programming best practices.
• Consult with managers and users regarding current operating procedures.
• Solve technical problems with a creative and energetic approach.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience with COBOL and CICS.
• Experience with additional technologies such as MQ Series, VSAM, and EasyTrieve.
• Experience in the financial sector, with knowledge of Margin, trade processing, order management, Security Master, pricing, KYC, and related areas.
• Familiarity with distributed and relational design concepts and databases is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
