Mailing Setup Operator - 3rd Shift

Responsibilities

• Insert material for printing or addressing, ex. Inkjet and inserters.
• Accept and check containers of mail or parcels prior to distribution to mailers, couriers, contractors, and USPS.
• Adjust guides, rollers, loose card inserters, and weighing machines.
• Inspect mail machine output for defects; determine and eliminate causes of any defects.
• Lift and unload containers of mail or parcels onto equipment for transportation to sortation stations.
• Place incoming or outgoing letters or packages into sacks or bins based on destination or type, and place identifying tags on sacks or bins.
• Read production orders to determine types and sizes of items scheduled for mailing.
• Remove containers of sorted mail/parcels and transfer them to designated areas according to established procedures.
• Verify that items are addressed correctly, marked with the proper postage, and in suitable condition for processing.
• Clear jams in sortation equipment.
• Seal or open envelopes, by hand or by using machines.
• Wrap packages or bundles by hand.
• Review job jackets to determine components, settings, and adjustments for equipment.
• Remove defective or substandard materials from machines and readjust machine components so that product meets standards.
• Adjust machine controls to alter position, alignment, speed, or pressure.
