About the role

The Employment Development Department (EDD), Document Management Division is seeking a motivated, skilled, and energetic individual to join a fast-paced team of professionals. This is a limited-term position which may be extended or become permanent.

Under the general supervision of the Production Mail Finishing Mailing Machines Supervisor II, the Mailing Machines Supervisor I (MMS I) supervises subordinate staff in a Production Mail Finishing Unit on one of three shifts, operating various types of mailing equipment. The role involves training and providing technical expertise on mailing equipment, managing equipment maintenance programs, prioritizing and assigning work, performing quality control checks, maintaining logs, and verifying documentation accuracy.

The incumbent must operate equipment at established production levels and possess a working knowledge of current United States Postal Service's mailing requirements and regulations. This position works the day shift at 3704 Parkway Pl, West Sacramento, CA 95691.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise subordinate staff in the operation of mailing equipment on one of three shifts.
  • Provide training and technical expertise on mailing equipment and associated software applications.
  • Manage equipment maintenance programs and prioritize work assignments for operators.
  • Perform continual quality control checks and maintain quality control logs.
  • Verify accuracy of documentation for jobs processed.
  • Operate mailing equipment at established acceptable production levels.
  • Ensure compliance with United States Postal Service's mailing requirements and regulations.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of the theory of operation of mailing equipment and associated software applications.
  • Working knowledge of current United States Postal Service's mailing requirements and regulations.
  • Ability to operate equipment at established production levels.

Pay

$4,247.00 - $5,318.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025).

Schedule

  • Work Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
  • Work Week: Monday-Friday
