About the Role

Under the direction of the Supervisor I, Business Services Section, the incumbent performs centralized and mail support services for the Department’s Business Services Unit (BSU). This position plays a critical role in supporting the entire department with mail services and offers variety such as interacting with colleagues, setting up conference rooms, making deliveries, and providing other support services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide centralized and mail support services for the Business Services Unit.
  • Interact with colleagues and set up conference rooms.
  • Make deliveries and perform other support services.
  • Operate in a climate-controlled cubicle and/or office environment.

Requirements

  • Valid California Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Must answer questions addressing CDL on the application (number, class, expiration date, endorsements/restrictions).
  • Must clear a background investigation prior to hire (fingerprinting and California Department of Justice criminal records inquiry).
  • Must be a California resident and maintain residency if teleworking (per Government Code 14200).
  • Possession of minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview/appointment.
  • If using education to meet minimum qualifications, unofficial college transcripts may be submitted during the application process (official transcripts may be required prior to appointment).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, service-oriented state agency prioritizing accountability and customer service.
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy when providing customer service.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and interact professionally in a team environment with consumers and coworkers.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to move boxes of up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience in delivering internal or external mail/packages.
  • Experience operating a mail metering machine and scale.
  • Experience performing administrative tasks (filing, printing, producing binders, copying, receiving/stocking supplies).
  • Experience composing/responding to emails or other documents and using virtual communication platforms.
  • Experience utilizing computers, copiers, printers, and scanners.

Pay

$3,758.00 - $4,710.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable.

Note: The salary range does not include the temporary salary reduction under the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025), effective July 1, 2025.

Schedule

  • Permanent, full-time position.
  • May be eligible for hybrid telework, subject to operational needs and State/DMHC telework policies.
  • Work locations: Downtown Sacramento or Rancho Cordova (both near light-rail with amenities).
