About the role
As a Mail Processing Center Clerk I, you will process, receive, sort, distribute, pick up, and deliver company mail and packages for the enterprise. This role ensures mailing machines operate efficiently, mail and packages reach their destinations in a timely manner, and document flow runs smoothly for the organization.
Responsibilities
- Process incoming and outgoing mail:
- Receive, sort, and open mail daily, organizing it by business unit (recipient).
- Route payments and checks to MPC Payment Processors.
- Route tax bills and correspondence to MPC Tax Research Clerks.
- Identify and process customer correspondence for imaging.
- Receive, sort, and send all outgoing mail and packages via USPS, FedEx, and UPS.
- Complete daily mail routes throughout the office for pick-up and drop-off in mail service locations.
- Research, identify, and update all returned mail based on team policies using AS400 for customer account access and address updates.
- Provide special print job services enterprise-wide for training, marketing promotions, laminations, and other needs.
- Administer FedEx services, including setting up new user accounts and editing groups as needed.
- Send weekly packages to all Home Centers, Home Building Group, and Supply Facilities.
- Prioritize special projects based on efficient shipping practices and department needs.
- Provide excellent customer service:
- Answer calls regarding mail and track packages for Retail Home Centers and Home Building Group teams.
- Collaborate with special groups (e.g., Aramark, Facilities, Technology, Lodge) for deliveries.
- Troubleshoot lost or missing packages and mail.
- Respond to emails from inter-enterprise team members.
- Provide service at the Mail Processing window in the main hallway of the home office.
- Provide postage, shipping labels, and print jobs for work-from-home and extension-print email distributions.
- Support vendor services:
- Work with third-party couriers to ensure timely mail processing.
- Operate FedEx Ship Manager to print weekly shipping labels for outgoing packages.
- Organize and sort packages for daily UPS and FedEx pickups.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 0-1 year of experience preferred; no experience required.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to type at least 25 wpm.
- Strong communication skills via phone, email, and in-person.
- Ability to gather facts accurately, analyze causes, evaluate solutions, and make sound decisions.
- Capability to manage multiple and/or conflicting responsibilities.
- Great attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50-75% of the time.
- Will walk throughout the home office daily for mail services.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (e.g., telephone, calculator, copy machine, printer).
- Must be able to exchange accurate information at all times.
- Must be able to identify and assess account status and determine appropriate processes.
- Works in a state-of-the-art, indoor, temperature-controlled office environment with sealed windows.
Pay
The expected hiring range for this position is $16.86 to $19.83 per hour, plus additional bonus opportunity. Final compensation decisions will consider experience, qualifications, individual skills, internal equity, and organizational needs.
Schedule
Full-time, hourly position. Required in-office work schedule.
