Mail Clerk/Courier
Essential Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property.
- Current valid drivers license is preferred.
- Real ID is required to enter federal buildings.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Sorts incoming mail, separates per customer requirements, delivers mail twice daily, retrieves interoffice mail and processes outbound mail.
- Performs Quality Control by reviewing all files.
- Receives, dates/stamps, sorts and opens all incoming mail, including all appeal files. Places mail in proper buckets/bins for distribution.
- Completes incorrect returned mail.
- Receives outgoing mail and applies correct postage.
- Arranges for pickup of outgoing mail.
- Folds letters, circulars, or other documents and inserts into envelopes for distribution.
- Weighs mail to determine correct postage.
Education/Experience Required
- A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Three (3) years' of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education / experience.

About the Role
The General Clerk II supports mail administration and operations by performing detailed business analysis, quality control, reporting, and technical support for the Program Support Center (PSC) Mail and Publishing Services, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) component agencies, and other Federal Government partners. This role ensures full compliance with U.S. Postal Service regulations and oversees the accurate processing of all inbound/outbound mail in accordance with federal requirements. In addition to assisting with daily mail room operations, the General Clerk II performs all duties associated with the General Clerk I position, including handling, sorting, and distributing mail. The role may also include occasional supervisory responsibilities to support overall workflow and operational efficiency.
