About the role
At Magnolia, the Back of House Lead executes the daily flow of food from preparation to completion at Magnolia Table in Waco, Texas. This position assists with coaching, training, and providing guidance to team members, reporting to the Assistant Kitchen Manager with supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Uphold Magnolia’s manifesto and values
- Communicate with management regarding potential shortages or overages of specific products
- Assist in directing and organizing the kitchen during business hours
- Assist in opening and closing the restaurant with an emphasis on sanitation and food quality control
- Possess a thorough, working understanding of all recipes, restaurant standards, and visual standards for each product, and train fellow teammates
- Prepare food for service
- Accurately place orders from Magnolia’s partner vendors
- Operate equipment safely and in line with best-use practices
- Maintain a positive employee climate regarding cleanliness and sanitation
- Work and interact with others in a manner consistent with the Magnolia culture
- Proactively seek development and training from the Assistant Kitchen Manager
- Check with management if the quality of products is in question
- Provide feedback and assist with the training of back of house staff
- Contribute ideas on ways to improve or optimize kitchen processes
- Contribute to a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of kitchen or baking experience in a high-volume restaurant on the line preferred
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Food Handler's license required upon hire
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends, special events, and holidays

Work Environment
This role operates in a fast-paced kitchen environment with routine use of sinks, dishwashers, and tools to clean kitchen appliances. The employee is frequently exposed to:

- Intermittent noise levels sufficient to cause hearing loss or fatigue
- High and low temperatures
