Job Summary
Coordinates activities required to attain and maintain ANCC Magnet status for the Hawaii market. Initial work is focused on assessment and gap analysis. Facilitates and oversees the application submission, preparation of documentation, policies, research, and informational sessions relative to obtaining magnet status. Analyzes and presents key quality and patient satisfaction outcomes to nursing leaders, executive leadership, and frontline staff. Attends local and regional Magnet committees/councils, as well as facilitates the submission of nursing sensitive outcome indicators and quarterly/annual reports to the ANCC Magnet office, and executive leadership. Assimilates professional practice model into the Magnet portfolio.
Essential Responsibilities
- Coordinates activities required to attain and maintain ANCC Magnet status for the Hawaii region.
- Serves the role of expert for the organization related to the 5 magnet model components that include: transformational leadership, structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice, new knowledge, and empirical quality results.
- Provides education to nurses about Magnet Recognition.
- Covers assessment of Magnet readiness/gap analysis.
- Serves as the point person for the application for Magnet Recognition, verifying that all requirements are met.
- Coordinates activities with Nursing Leadership (CNE, Directors and Nurse Managers).
- Facilitates and supports the design and execution of nursing research projects and practice and ensures compliance with IRB approval standards and guidelines.
- Is accountable for timely submission of required reports and/or information to the ANCC Magnet Program Office.
- Serves the role of content expert for the organization related to the 5 Magnet domains transformational leadership, structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice, new knowledge, and empirical outcomes.
- Develops and maintains emphasis on evidence-based practice through modeling, mentoring, facilitating, and educating to ensure key learnings are being communicated.
- Serves as liaison between relevant departments and nursing councils to ensure potential needs and solutions are being identified, explored, and met, if deemed they will maintain and / or improve organizational standing (accreditations, licensing, strategic goals).
- Supports nursing excellence, recognition, and empowerment through nursing professional governance and the development of nurses.
- Improve nurse-sensitive and patient outcomes through interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Affords responsibility for coordinating nursing and interprofessional research, using evidence-based practice methodologies to improve patient care and nursing practice.
- Performs duties of a highly confidential nature that requires a comprehensive knowledge of organizational policies, practices, and procedures.
- Composes and prepares complex correspondence and reports, gathers, and interprets information to develop complex reports, maintains departmental files, and provides exemplary customer service to internal and external customers.
- Supports performance improvement with emphasis on process and systems issues.
- Identifies problem and opportunity areas internally and externally.
- Stimulates solution identification and development.
- Facilitate project planning I goal setting processes.
- Communicates and knowledge transfer to promote excellence:
- Develops and maintains emphasis on evidence-based practice through modeling, mentoring, facilitating, and educating to ensure key learnings are being communicated.
- Serves as a subject matter expert responsible to ensure and support the professional practice standards and outcomes required for ANCC Magnet designation.
- Establishes the systemic use of the ANCC Magnet standards and outcomes that will permit for successful reapplication of Magnet designation.
- Collaborates with academic agencies to coordinate accomplishment of student learning and research objectives.
- Ability to analyze and communicate relevant data, accurately evaluate complex problems, develop solutions, implement plans, and evaluate outcomes.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience as an RN.
- Minimum of two (2) years Magnet experience.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school.
- Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required at hire.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in conducting and/or overseeing IRB research projects.
- Nursing leadership experience.
- Masters degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school.
- Advance practice certification.
- Nurse Executive Board Certificate OR Nurse Executive Advanced Certificate OR Inpatient Obstetric Nursing Certification.
- Nursing education background.
