Job Responsibilities
- To coordinate the implementation of standardized lean techniques and the World Class Manufacturing culture by identifying risk or inefficiencies within the manufacturing process.
- To prepare and conduct training on MAFACT/Lean principals.
- To facilitate a mindset of waste identification and elimination.
- To follow and comply with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the employee Environmental Health and Safety programs.
- To abide by Kamtek policies and procedures as described in the most current version of the Employee Handbook.
- To promote an environment where zero injuries are the expected standard.
- To promote MAFACT benchmarks to achieve World Class Manufacturing.
- To attend and participate in Team, Department, Plant-wide and any other meetings as required.
- To conduct all activities in a professional manner and positive attitude with an emphasis on personal responsibility.
- To listen to issues and concerns and respond within 48 hours.
- To support efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey.
- To promote a mindset of operational excellence across the organization through standardization, process controls, and defect prevention.
- To provide training for plant personnel on Lean manufacturing including Lego training, and standardize work.
- To analyze current work practices to identify opportunities for improvement; recommend countermeasures to optimize performance.
- To train production teams in completing Standardize Work Documents, including work sequence charts, cycle time studies, and labor utilization.
- To support safety via ergonomic analysis and development of corrective actions that reduce risk of work-related strains.
- To support team leaders and supervisors on their lean journey by attending Tier meetings, and coaching problem solving activities.
- To support the Gemba process.
- To support change over activities through SMED workshops.
- To lead cross-functional team in rapid improvement kaizen events that optimize quality, scrap, or other performance metrics.
- To ensure improvement activities are being communicated, understood, and supported with Lean manufacturing principals in mind throughout the organization.
- To support launch of new programs by working with engineers through cardboard city through identification of waste and development of Standard Work Instructions.
- To investigate, understand, and communicate best practices with other Magna divisions in an effort to continuously improve.
Position Requirements
- Partner with all plant leaders and team members to develop, implement, and sustain lean manufacturing principals and continuous improvement projects to improve key performance metrics (SQTCM: Safety, Quality, Timing, Cost, Motivation).
- To lead large and small-scale projects to improve production performance.
- To be a key leader in the organization, participate in plant meetings (from high level strategy sessions down to daily walks).
- To demonstrate the ability to effect change in a manufacturing environment and ensure improvement activity is being communicated, understood, and supported within the organization.
- To demonstrate the ability to facilitate groups and deliver lean training.
- To have a high aptitude for problem solving and analytical thinking.
- To be highly organized, able to work with limited direct supervision, motivated to successfully meet deadlines, attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- To have the ability to read and understand quality standards.
- To manage the execution of complex projects.
- To demonstrate the ability to build collaborative relationships and influence others.
- To have verbal and written communication skills; able to clearly articulate ideas and manage the change process.
