Macmillan Cancer Support is seeking people with lived experience of cancer—patients, carers, family, friends, medical professionals, and cancer nurses—to join their Innovation Community. This initiative aims to shape and develop new services and products that improve outcomes for those affected by cancer by incorporating diverse perspectives and experiences.

About the role

The Innovation Community offers flexible, ad-hoc involvement in a variety of activities, including surveys, focus groups, co-designing information, interview panels, testing new products, and advisory groups. Most activities are conducted online, allowing for UK-wide participation. No prior innovation experience is required—lived experience is the most valuable contribution.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in surveys and focus groups
  • Co-design information and resources
  • Join interview panels for service or product development
  • Test new innovative products and provide feedback
  • Contribute to a regular advisory group
  • Provide feedback on involvement impact and service improvements

Support and Inclusion

  • Flexible, ad-hoc role with no minimum time commitment
  • Welcome call, induction, and ongoing support from an Innovation Engagement Officer
  • Tech support provided by the Innovation Engagement team
  • Virtual participation to enable UK-wide involvement
  • Day and evening events to accommodate different schedules
  • Tailored communication and accessible engagement methods
  • Training opportunities to learn new skills
  • Opportunities to meet and interact with other community members
  • Transparency about how contributions influence Macmillan’s work
