Responsibilities
- Sets-up and operates milling machines (both manual & CNC machines), lathes (both manual & CNC machines), surface grinders, and other related tool room equipment.
- Determines proper tooling and cutters for each task.
- Understands metallurgy including differentiating between materials, understanding the material’s characteristics, and determining proper feeds and speeds.
- Reads and understands blueprints.
- Uses various inspection tools including but not limited to: calipers, micrometers, and indicators.
- Keeps shop clean and orderly.
- Inspects and calibrates tools.
- Sharpens tools.
- Maintains cutting tools in good working order.
- Assists in specifying parts and materials needed for repairs and new mold builds.
- Informs management of print, part, or machining errors.
- Follows Safety rules.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
