Machinist Tool Room

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Follow direction from the Manufacturing Engineer of the MBU (Metals Business Unit)
• Program CNC mill and CNC lathe to run parts for MBU
• Set-up and run manual mills and lathes as required
• Construct tooling ranging in complexity from "simple to intermediate"
• Maintain safety equipment and adhere to safety regulations when operating machinery
• Work with close tolerances related to drilling, boring, reaming and milling
• Assist in the design process of Tools, Fixtures and other equipment that are used in the Production areas
• Perform other job-related duties as directed
• Responsible to maintain a safe working environment for all employees
• Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OSHAS 18001 certification requirements

Required Skills/Abilities

• Good working knowledge of metal cutting feeds and speeds, threading terminology and calculating angles for setting sine bars
• Able to work from blueprints, sketches and/or verbal descriptions for planning operational sequences
• Good working knowledge of standard shop mathematics
• Understand grinding principles and procedures

Education And Experience

• Vocational School Certificate or equivalent experience as a machinist

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

• Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production areas
