Tool Room Machinist

As a Tool Room Machinist, you will carry through to completion without supervision the construction, repair, maintenance, and calibration of machine-shop tools, jigs, fixtures, instruments, and metal-forming dies.

Responsibilities

• Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.
• Apply knowledge of tool and die design and construction, shop mathematics, metal properties, and layout, machining, and assembly procedures.
• Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize products to determine materials required and machines to be used.
• Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly method and sequence of operations.
• Set up, program, and operate CNC and manual machine tools (lathes, mills, shapers, grinders) to machine parts and verify conformance to specifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.

Reliable attendance is required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• 2 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree.
• 4 years of related experience.

Pay

The anticipated hourly starting pay range for this position is $30.00 to $40.00. The exact rate may be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, and education.

$2,000 sign-on bonus available.

20% 2nd shift differential compensation.

Schedule

2nd Shift, 3:00 pm - 1:30 am, Monday - Thursday.

About the Company

100% employee-owned, Kurt Die Casting is a division of Kurt Manufacturing, located near Minneapolis, MN. Our die casting facility offers experience in multiple areas of manufacturing, including aluminum and zinc die casting, CNC machining, automation, and quality control.

We operate over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space with 20 CNC machining centers and 15 die casting machines ranging from 500 to 1,200 tons. Many of our castings feature challenging designs requiring secondary operations such as machining, finishing, and assembly.
