About the role
CF&I Steel, L.P. seeks a Machinist to join our Maintenance team at our Pueblo, Colorado location. The position reports to the Maintenance Superintendent and involves machining, disassembling, and assembling parts for equipment and machines.
Responsibilities
- Machine, disassemble, and assemble parts using various shop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
- Work bench-floor and field work, including alignments.
- Utilize materials like castings, forgings, bar stock, flats, and rounds.
- Read prints and drawings, layout and plan work according to blueprints, and select proper materials and machines.
- Test, inspect, dismantle, assemble, and repair machined products accurately.
- Make provisions for handling of materials, equipment, and tools when needed.
- Observe all safety rules and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Keep work area and equipment clean and orderly.
- Perform routine maintenance and assist Maintenance personnel.
- Work in both inside and outside environmental conditions, exposed to elevated noise levels, oils, solvents, and oil-based products, extreme cold and heat, close proximity to moving parts, chips, shavings, scale, and sharp tools.
- Obtain and maintain OSHA 10 and equipment certifications, as required.
Requirements
- Machinist Apprenticeship, AAS degree in Machining Technology or equivalent in an applicable field.
- 1 - 3 years of experience in fabrication and welding in heavy industry, manufacturing, or mining; experience working with machinery, equipment operation, or a closely related field preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in all categories of Machining Technology, including critical alignments and sophisticated measuring tools.
- Competent in manipulating numbers, quantities, shapes, and spaces; able to take precise measurements and calculate necessary dimensions.
- Able to repair machinery required in operating departments and roll shops.
- Valid Colorado Drivers License.
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision and manage tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and collaboration with all levels of personnel.
- Physical ability to climb, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, make repetitive motions, hear, etc. and the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
