Machinist, Staff
About the role
We are seeking a CNC Machinist to join our Shelby team. The role involves performing routine and semi-routine assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment. Under general supervision, you will work from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. You may communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly. You will also check and inspect machining operations against specified tolerances. You will identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and semi-routine assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment.
- Work from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, including the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions.
- Communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly.
- Check and inspect machining operations against specified tolerances.
- Identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.
- Determine how to set up machines based on instructions received and perform minor repairs of equipment.
- Keep work area clean and free from safety hazards and maintain acceptable quality and efficiency levels.
- Prove out CNC programs when required.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- 2-3 years experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- General good housekeeping practices within work area.

$21.00 to $30.33 + 7% shift premium (2nd shift)/ 10% shift premium (3rd shift)
Schedule
- 2nd shift: 2pm to 10pm
- 3rd shift: 10pm to 6am
