About the Role
Perform tasks directly related to the machining of graphite, silicon carbides, and other specialty materials.
Responsibilities
- Work is job oriented, following detailed blueprints, customer specifications, and internal work instructions.
- Operate hand tools, precision measuring equipment, and computers (desktop and machine control varieties).
- Operate 4th & 5th axis mills, live tooling lathes, surface and centerless grinders, cup grinders, bandsaws, and other machining equipment.
- Complete machining tasks within a customer job.
- Make complex code adjustments within programs.
- Collaborate with programmers on program/fixture creation for new parts.
- Create hand-typed CNC code (e.g., chip prevention lines, fixturing).
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and manufacturing guidelines to consistently produce high-quality products.
- Follow weekly scheduled work to track on-time shipping.
- Perform preventative maintenance and housekeeping duties as tasked.
- Perform machine setups and/or operate equipment that is set up by more skilled operators.
- Routinely perform initial setup on new parts.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Math and precision measurement skills; ability to read machine drawings.
- Advanced knowledge of machining methods.
- Astute attention to detail to drive Safety and Quality.
- Ability to perform visual checks and handle materials responsibly while wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability to work any shift as required to meet business needs.
- Experience in an ISO 9000/14000 environment is a plus.
- Capacity to comply with federally mandated U.S. export control laws.
- Experience using a CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) is a plus.
- Experience using programming software is a plus.
- Knowledge of advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Physical Requirements
- Completion of pre-employment physical required.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Capability to ascend and descend ladders using a three-point grip.
- Frequent tasks include squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching, and standing.
- Occasional work in confined workspaces.
- Ability to perform hand squeezes requiring force up to 30 lbs.
- Performing repetitive tasks or motions for extended periods.
- Maintaining balance and coordination, especially on elevated platforms or uneven surfaces.
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks over extended periods, often in varying environmental conditions (e.g., hot, cold, or humid environments).
- Adequate visual acuity to perform detailed inspections or precision work.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 5:15 am to 3:15 pm.
