Machinist II/III
About the role
Ascentec Engineering is hiring experienced Machinists at our Tualatin, Oregon headquarters. This position presents a great opportunity for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and many avenues for career growth in a quick-turn, high-speed machine shop.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload parts for machining up to 40 pounds.
- Read and interpret manufacturing prints.
- Possess efficient math skills and basic understanding of geometric tolerance.
- Check parts using basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, pins, indicators, and bore gauges.
- CNC setup and operation; tech tools, load programs, and set/adjust work/tool offsets accordingly (Haas, Fanuc, Siemens, and Okuma controls).
- Inspect machined parts following 1st Part and in-process inspection protocol.
- CNC 3 & 4 axis machining experience required; 5 axis is a plus.
- Able to change fixtures, replace tool changes, and manage tool libraries.
- Machining and holding tolerances of +/- .0005".
- Maintain 5S standards, keeping area clean and organized.

Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Able to multitask and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Minimum experience in the set-up and operation of 3-axis vertical CNC mills; 4 & 5 axis experience is a plus.
- Experienced with multiple metrology tools for measuring and recording part dimensions.
- Trade school and/or at least three years of experience in a manufacturing environment highly preferred.

Schedule
Four shifts available:
- Day Shift: Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Swing Shift: Monday through Thursday, 3:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
- Weekend Day Shift: Friday through Sunday, 5 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Weekend Night Shift: Friday through Sunday, 5 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
All shifts are full-time, and off shifts are eligible for an industry-leading shift differential. This position is on-site (not remote or hybrid).
Pay
$21 to $34 per hour, depending on experience.
