Responsibilities

  • Machine parts to precise specifications using manual lathes, mills, and drills.
  • Repair and restore parts supporting Cooper's turbocharger service business.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform dimensional layout on machined parts and complete documentation confirming conformity to prints.
  • Apply the right surface finish, deburr, and stamp for each part.
  • Set up and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and accessories on assigned machines.
  • Monitor feed, speed, and machine offsets (wear, geometry, cutter compensation) throughout the job.
  • Read job cards to plan product details, machining time, and quantities.
  • Keep your work area clean and safe — chips swept, oil disposed of properly, pallets maintained.
  • Follow all PPE and safety protocols, including guarding, lifting technique, and slip/fall prevention.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school or institution.
  • 2-5 years of manual machining experience, ideally in oil & gas, power, heavy equipment, or automation & controls.
  • Skilled with precision measuring tools — dial and Vernier calipers, ID mics, depth mics, ball mics.
  • Able to lift 40+ pounds and perform physical work involving standing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Comfortable reading and applying complex drawings, specifications, and trade math.
  • A clear communicator, both verbally and in writing, with basic computer skills.
  • Adaptable team player who is dependable, safety-focused, and brings a sense of urgency to the job.

Qualifications

  • Vo-Tech certificate in machining or a related trade.
  • Certification to operate a forklift, pallet jack, or crane.
  • Familiarity with oilfield assemblies and parts.
