Position Summary
The Machinist II is responsible but not limited to overseeing the operation of machining equipment to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts by performing the set-ups, conventional, special purpose and CNC machines.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Studies Position Summary
- Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining
- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders and shapers
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required
- Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications
- Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
- Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance
- Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly
- Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly
- Adhere to Employees Responsibilities section set forth in Conco's Safety Policies & Procedure Manual
- Participate in team safety meetings and cross-functional planning sessions
Skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routines, use simple math, and use basic handheld measuring tools
- Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above
- This position requires an organized individual who is self-motivated
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and/or priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
- Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up
- Daewoo Puma 240 MSB with Faunc Series 18i-TB control and DN Solutions Lynx 2600SY with Fanus I Series control experience preferred but not required
- GibbsCAM knowledge a bonus but not required

Qualifications
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
- Journeyman Certification Preferred
- 3–5 years of machining experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or fabrication environment
- Must be authorized to work within the United States
- Equivalent combination of experience and training provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting or moving of materials up to 50 lbs
- Labor intense: crouching, kneeling, crawling, climbing, balancing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, squatting, driving, sitting, or standing (particularly for long periods of time)
- Physically submit to periodic drug, background, and clearance screenings (employment is contingent upon favorable results)
Work Environment
- The work environment involves manufacturing facilities
- Employees may be exposed to loud noise, heavy machinery, and hazardous materials, high pressure equipment, and extreme temperatures
- Extended shifts are common
- Safety is a top priority, with rigorous training protocols and PPE may include hard hats and gloves to mitigate risks
