Responsibilities
- Machines parts utilizing shop related equipment, manual skills may include but are not limited to polishing, lapping, turning, grinding, milling and EDM.
- CNC machinist operators may additionally engage in program related activities such as writing and modifications.
- Maintains responsibility for verifying (before use) shelf life and calibration standards of gages/tools/etc. and consumables used throughout the machining process and in their work area.
- Performs in process inspection activities of all work to verify conformity of the product, reports non conformances to the Operations Manager.
- Captures work area readiness to include sufficient levels of consumables used for their work area responsibilities.
- Works in an independent manner, to complete all assigned tasks by the date(s) scheduled by the production planning department.
- Engages in the routine maintenance of the equipment in the work area(s), daily, quarterly and annually.
- Affords assistance with other duties as dictated by the Production Manager or supervisor(s).
- Maintains performance and quality goals as well as provides for general housekeeping of workspace.
- Adheres to all company safety rules at all times while in the workplace.
Requirements
- One to two years related experience is preferred and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and write the English language and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to deal with problems involving machining of materials, fixtures tools etc.
- Knowledge of basic computer use.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for approximately 25% of the average work day.
