Machinist I - 2nd Shift

About the role

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Machinist sets up, operates, and maintains a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, blueprints, and quality control standards.

Responsibilities

• Install and align machine accessories (cutting tools, work positioners, plates, fixtures, shields) using hand tools and measuring instruments
• Operate CNC machining centers to meet desired specifications
• Run proven machine tool programs with minimal supervision
• Manipulate machine controls (buttons, switches, dials, levers, pedals) to regulate and adjust cutting speed and feeds
• Measure dimensions of finished parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, or check fixtures
• Trim, sand, and drill parts using shop equipment as needed
• Perform daily/weekly operator maintenance on machine equipment and tools
• Accurately execute Company Process Control (PC) instructions and provide feedback when revisions are needed
• Document actions by completing production and quality logs
• Actively explore opportunities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC)
• Train others by openly sharing information, knowledge, and expertise with the team
• Complete job assignments as directed by Manufacturing Manager
• Attend meetings, trainings, and participate in audits as required
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
• Comply with all company rules, including safety policies and federal/state/local regulations
• Use personal protective equipment as defined in company safety policies
• Report all unsafe conditions, accidents, and injuries immediately to management
• Actively participate in 6S and lean activities as outlined by the Company
• Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements
• Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
• Store and maintain tools, equipment, and gauges according to company standards
• Keep work area clean and organized to company standards (daily cleaning, sweeping, emptying trash, removing personal items)

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Minimum 1-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with G code interpreting
• Ability to read and understand blueprint requirements and interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
• Forklift experience preferred
• Reliable transportation
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage time effectively, multi-task, and pay close attention to details
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Capable of following directions and taking responsibility for production efficiency and quality
• Demonstrate customer focus by understanding and responding to internal and external customer needs
• Maintain a positive attitude and communicate openly and honestly
• Proactively solve problems and contribute to continuous process/product improvement
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
• Comfortable working in environments with noise, heat, or dust
• Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day

Schedule

2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM (includes shift differential). Training will be conducted on 1st shift.
