Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment at all times.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and goals.
- Meet or exceed productivity metrics for machining efficiency.
- Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles.
- Perform mathematical and geometric calculations for machining and programming.
- Follow work instructions and complete documentation both verbally and within the ERP system.
- Conduct routine equipment maintenance.
- Prepare and handle industrial rotating equipment components for machining as required by the task.
- Accurately complete inspection reports and required documentation.
- Operate shop equipment, including drills, grinders, manual milling machines, and cranes.
- Safely rig, lift, and maneuver castings weighing up to 20,000 lbs.
- Set up and machine large castings, shafts, and various parts, adjusting for variations as needed.
- Monitor tool wear and replace tooling as necessary.
- Use precision measuring instruments correctly, such as micrometers and bore gauges.
- Apply knowledge of deflection and thermal growth when machining hard materials, making adjustments as needed.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Train and mentor other machinists.
- Maintain housekeeping standards within work areas and shift.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Experience operating manual machine tools in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
- Proficient in reading engineering drawings and applying GD&T.
- Experience machining large or heavy castings preferred.
- Crane and rigging experience is a plus.
- Ability to mentor and train others.
