About the role

The Machinist role is a mid-level position that supports the design, fabrication, maintenance, and improvement of systems, equipment, and facilities. This position requires a solid foundation of technical knowledge and skills, with the ability to work independently on routine assignments and contribute to more complex projects under general supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform technical tasks such as machining, fabrication, and assembly with minimal supervision.
  • Operate and maintain specialized tools, equipment, and machinery, including CNC machines.
  • Analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to produce high-quality components and assemblies.
  • Fabricate and assemble components for prototypes and production systems, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
  • Conduct inspections, testing, and diagnostics to ensure systems and equipment meet operational standards.
  • Document maintenance activities and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, supporting their skill development and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to complete projects and resolve technical challenges.
  • Communicate effectively to report progress, issues, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with additional technical coursework or certifications required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or machining field, with demonstrated expertise in machining processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of CNC machining, including setup, operation, and troubleshooting for both simple and complex parts.
  • A strong understanding of safety protocols, quality standards, and industry regulations, including DoD contractor requirements.
  • Intermediate to advanced math skills, including algebra, geometry, and shop math.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software or technical drawings, with the ability to make minor modifications to designs.
  • Familiarity with automated systems, robotics, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Proven ability to lead or mentor junior technicians and contribute to team development.

Safety and Compliance

Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Work Environment/Conditions

  • Work is performed in industrial, manufacturing, or climate-controlled environments.
  • Requires standing, sitting, bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and performing repetitive hand and wrist movements.
  • Exposure to noise, heat, and other environmental factors typical of technical trades work.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided.
