Machinist 4A

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of machines, including milling machines, grinders, and lathes, to produce precision metal parts.
• Review prints, calculate where to cut, determine speeds, and plan the sequence of operations.
• Detect problems through sound and vibration.

Requirements

• Work to production schedule and due dates.
• Safely and efficiently set up and operate a variety of machines.
• Hold tight tolerances (+/- .002).
• Interpret and calculate feeds and speeds.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of LEAN Principles.
• Proficiency in operating: Basic Manual Mill, Basic Manual Lathe, Basic CNC Mill, Basic CNC Lathe, Straddle Mill, Corrugation Mill, Radical Drills, Broach and Keyseater Machines, Various Gauges, Cleaning, Deburring, Hand Grinding Parts, Basic Inspection Department Procedures, Crane Operation (including Rigging and Forklift Operation).
• Ability to read and interpret tape measures with accuracy up to 1/16 of an inch.
• Proficient in using broach and keyseater machines.
• Familiar with basic heat treat functions.
• Capable of reading and accurately using various gauges.
• Competent in cleaning, deburring, and hand grinding parts.
• Proficient in basic inspection department procedures.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Simultaneously work on multiple projects at one time.
• Display attention to detail and consistently follow Standard Work Instructions (when available).
• Communicate well with peers, supervisor, customers, vendors, and other departments.
• Participate in 6S and other Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts.
