About the Role

Northrop Grumman has 5 openings for a Machinist 3 in our Armament Systems Business Unit located in Mesa, AZ. Armament Systems is a leading supplier of integrated medium-caliber weapon systems for land, air, and sea platforms through its world-renowned Bushmaster® line of automatic cannons. This is a second-shift position.

Schedule

Hours: Monday–Thursday, 4x10-hour shifts (3:00 PM – 1:30 AM).

Responsibilities

• Fabricate various components and samples that meet design specifications.
• Operate conventional and/or numerically controlled machining centers, lathes, and surface grinders on semi-complex jobs.
• Work from blueprints, sketches, planning sheets, verbal instructions, and/or engineering, tooling, or equipment information.
• Perform manual and CNC machine operations (including reworking parts) such as turning, milling, forming, drilling, tapping, and reaming parts.
• Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to machine quality parts.
• Operate hand and power tools to deburr precision and complex machined parts in accordance with semi-complicated engineering blueprints.
• Inspect parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as gages, calipers, and micrometers; visually inspect parts for burrs or damaged machined surfaces.
• Routinely maintain equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability.
• Actively implement lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement; effectively apply lean concepts and tools in work area.
• Observe all company policies and procedures, especially safety rules, and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Collaborate in a team environment and contribute to problem-solving.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience on CNC Lathes and Mills in a machining environment.
• Ability to follow written, electronic, and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Pay

Primary salary range: $52,700.00 – $87,900.00. Base salary offers consider scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
