About the role
Sanmina Corporation is a leading integrated manufacturing solutions provider serving the fastest-growing segments of the global Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) market. The Sanmina facility in Austin, Texas provides precision machining and mechanical assembly services to customers. This role involves assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various tools of manual and CNC machine shop equipment.
Responsibilities
- Transfer commands from servers to computer numerical control (CNC) modules, using computer network links.
- Set up and operate CNC machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal or plastic work pieces.
- Mount, install, align and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Check to ensure that work pieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation.
- Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set up machine operations and sequencing, and finished work pieces dimension.
- Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust the machine to compensate.
- Remove and replace dull cutting tools.
- Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and modified programs.
- Calculate machine speed and feed ratios and size of position cuts.
- Lift work pieces to the machine with manually or with hoists or cranes.
- Control coolant systems.
- Cooperate with the coordination and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure safety and healthy working environment in the manufacturing area.
- Apply daily and weekly preventive maintenance program in accordance with TPM practices and principles.
Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a CNC machinist on 5 axis machines, mills or lathes.
- Must have basic computer skills (Microsoft Suite and know how to use a computer).
- Must have a good understanding of metals, and plastics.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
