Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Manual Machinist to join our dynamic team. This is an opportunity to be part of a company that values craftsmanship, excellence, safety, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Performs setups of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operates large Vertical & Horizontal Lathes used to repair and overhaul Large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps & Compressors.
• Interprets blueprints/drawings to determine critical dimensions.
• Reads micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring & test equipment as required.
• Maintains low tolerances as indicated by specifications or drawings, as low as .0005”.
• Selects appropriate cutting tools for various metals and determines speeds and feeds to obtain proper surface finish.
• Works overtime throughout the week and occasionally on weekends.
• Safely operates forklifts and overhead cranes within a machine shop environment.
• Adheres to all company EH&S & QMS processes.
• Performs lifting and rigging of heavy components of various configurations and weights.
• Assists in the disassembly, reassembly, repair, and rebuilding of Large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps.
• Opportunities to cross-train in different areas such as fabrication, assembly, and rotor balancing.

Requirements

• Demonstrated knowledge of machine setup, machine controls, and capabilities.
• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/Machinist.
• 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ years of experience operating King-style boring mills and/or vertical turning lathes (VTLs).
• Ability to effectively and safely use a variety of tools and equipment, including depth gauges, bore gauges, height gauges, feeler gauges, micrometers, calipers, deburring tools, die grinders, drill presses, and overhead lifting equipment.

• Ability to effectively share information about job duties in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisor, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Preferences

• HS Diploma or GED preferred. Higher education or certificate is a plus.
• Experience with manual machining such as VTL/Boring Mill/or Horizontal Lathe. Brands include but are not limited to Cincinnati and King brand.
• Proven ability to set up and operate manual machines, work centers, specializing in tool changes and in-process offset adjustments.
