Machinist 1-1

About the role

LECO, a family-owned leader in laboratory instruments for over 80 years, seeks a detail-oriented Machinist 1-1 to set up and operate CNC Machine Tools in a small-batch production environment. This position is on the 2nd shift with a start time of 3:15 pm and variable hours.

Responsibilities

• Setup and operate CNC Machine Tools, including Horizontal Machining Centers, Turning Centers, and Mill-Turn Machines
• Machine complex parts from a variety of materials
• Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels
• Identify and record product quality problems
• Verify implementation of solutions
• Control further processing, delivery, or installation of non-conforming product until deficiencies are corrected
• Inspect manufactured parts and perform related tasks
• Perform routine machine maintenance

Requirements

• Ability to read engineering drawings and precision measuring tools
• Own or be willing to purchase all necessary tools of the trade
• Perform CNC Machine Tool setup and operation
• Perform CNC program editing in a G&M code format

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Journeyman’s Certificate or 8+ years of experience is preferred
• Previous experience with FANUC or Mitsubishi controls in an aerospace or medical manufacturing environment is a plus
