About the Role
CIRCOR International is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to new product introduction (NPI) and drive additive manufacturing strategy for both NPI and production. This role involves optimizing manufacturing processes, collaborating across functions, and providing technical leadership to ensure cost-effective, high-performance products.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to NPI at the earliest stages to forecast technology fit, readiness level, prototype/production investment requirements, labor content, facility layout, and manufacturing NRE—critical for accurate and competitive new business proposals.
- Influence and drive the implementation and extension of additive manufacturing strategy for NPI and production.
- Continually improve manufacturing methods, systems, and processes to optimize product performance and reduce costs; identify, design, implement, and evaluate improvement opportunities.
- Determine specific requirements of manufacturing operations to specify equipment, fixture, and process parameters.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, and supply base to introduce best-cost product/process combinations for NPI.
- Provide production floor and assembly support for technical matters, including assembly drawing interpretation, engineering change notices, rework, manufacturing difficulties, and specifications.
- Compile and evaluate test and production data; prepare technical analysis and recommend manufacturing methods/processes to meet design objectives.
- Support the development, modification, and evaluation of manufacturing operations.
- Provide input to plans, process specifications, procedures, production aids, assembly fixtures, factory work standards, and similar initiatives.
- Ensure successful completion of assigned tasks within budgeted time and cost constraints.
- Maintain understanding, implementation, and adherence to the quality policy and quality system at all organizational levels.
- Develop plans to evaluate process repeatability and stability through equipment qualification and process validation.
- Apply Six Sigma methodologies as appropriate.
- Support formal reviews with suppliers, customers, and internal functions.
- Report on project and initiative progress as required.
- Communicate effectively across all layers of the organization.
- Provide technical leadership and support growth initiative execution.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university; related disciplines considered based on experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the development, installation, testing, analysis, certification, and design of aerospace components.
- Experience designing/analyzing components, assemblies, and tooling with high precision tolerances.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical assemblies.
- Direct experience working with Aerospace & Defense (A&D) product lines.
- Experience in technical writing (work instructions, reports) with attention to detail, formatting, consistency, and thoroughness.
Skills
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, assemblies, and drawings (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor).
- Proficiency in MS Excel (formulas, lookup functions).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reference manuals, engineering standards, and vendor component catalogs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude and ability to collaborate across operational disciplines.
- Knowledgeable in lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with electric motor and pneumatic/hydraulic valve assembly and test.
- Knowledge of visual programming languages (LabVIEW, Simulink) a plus.
- Knowledge of electromechanical components and PLC troubleshooting.
- Experience with aviation or medical equipment qualification processes desirable.
- Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Lean certification a plus.
- Project management experience.
- Proficiency in financial and statistical analysis.
- Strong analytical skills and solution-driven thinking; ability to collect and research data, using intuition and experience to complement data.
- Strong project management skills, including prioritization, balancing multiple efforts, and goal orientation.
- Experience leading others.
- Proficiency with fluid and stress analysis tools (e.g., Ansys) considered a plus.
- Program management experience desirable.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; develop alternative solutions; work well in group problem-solving situations.
- Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness; generates suggestions for improving work.
