Machining Assistant

About the role

Assist the CNC Machinist with the fabrication and production of required parts while keeping the work area safe and clean. In-house training is provided at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload parts from machinery using a forklift (training provided)
• Operate hand tools and measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, radius gages)
• Differentiate between various cutting tools (endmill, face mills, shell mills, drills, reamers, etc.)
• Set up tools in tool holders and install tool holders in machines
• Prepare parts for production, install load fixtures, and maintain a clean work area
• Assist the machinist in monitoring machinery during cutting and shovel chips from the area
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen

Skills

• Forklift operation (training provided)
• Proficiency with hand tools and precision measuring instruments
• Knowledge of cutting tool types and proper setup
• Ability to install tool holders and configure machine parameters
• Skill in preparing parts, installing fixtures, and maintaining cleanliness
• Capability to assist in monitoring machining processes and chip removal

Schedule

• 1st Shift: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 am – 4:30 pm
• 2nd Shift: Monday–Thursday, 4:30 pm – 3:00 am (with shift differential)
• Daytime/Night Shifts: 4‑day work week (Monday–Thursday), 10‑hour days
• Weekend Shift: Friday–Sunday, work 35 hours paid for 40 hours
