About the role
Repair machinery or mechanical equipment in a shop environment at the Red River Army Depot. Access to the Depot requires all covered individuals to be registered with the United States Selective Service.
Responsibilities
- Examine machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble.
- Dismantle or partly dismantle machines and perform repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools in scraping and fitting parts.
- Replace broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock; order the production of a replacement part by a machine shop or send the machine to a machine shop for major repairs.
- Prepare written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops.
- Reassemble machines and make all necessary adjustments for operation.
- Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
- Adhere to safety, quality, and procedure compliance policies as outlined by Amentum.
Work Environment
- Shop environment with loud and noisy conditions; some equipment has exposed moving components.
- Must be able to stand and bend for long periods.
- Must be able to push and test vehicles and heavy objects.
- Routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling, and carrying.
- Constant use of vision and mental alertness.
- Occasional use of safety glasses and hearing protection required.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Three years' experience working on industrial equipment and/or three years' doing metal fabrication.
- Able to obtain and retain a forklift operator’s license.
- Valid and current state-issued driver’s license.
- Passing a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization (US Citizenship required).
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Must be available to work any shift, including weekends and other hours as needed.
Pay
$38.16 per hour.
