About the role
The Machine Technician 1 is responsible for manufacturing product by operating and maintaining equipment and processes that provide optimum customer service. This entry-level position enhances the department’s safety, quality, and productivity while assisting the Facilitator as required. The role involves implementing area-specific compliance issues, including safety, quality, environmental, and plant policies, and contributing to continuous improvement projects.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety requirements in the work area.
- Maintain housekeeping by following all policies and schedules.
- Understand and demonstrate the use of all gauges in the cell, including tolerances and machine offsets to stay within specifications.
- Utilize quality tools in the cell, such as SPC and OEE.
- Operate a minimum of one machine in the department efficiently (85% or better).
- Perform setups (changeovers) following procedures in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot equipment, including automated operations, controls, and sensors.
- Assist the maintenance department in preventative maintenance responsibilities and updates to maintenance schedules.
- Complete routine equipment and product inspections, including required documentation.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor equipment repairs, providing feedback to Maintenance and Supervisors as needed.
- Inform supervisors or Department Managers about processes or equipment requiring attention.
- Recommend and participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance processes, productivity, and quality, especially those related to corrective actions.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor, including working other shifts as necessary.
- Adhere to 5S standards in the department.
Requirements
- High School or GED diploma required.
- Technical Certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automation preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in maintenance, mechanical, or technical field at a similar employer.
Skills
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Able to interpret technical data, including drawings and OMS.
- Proficient in the use of common inspection and test equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
