Machine Specialist l
Bottling Operations
Operate basic winery equipment under supervision, including bottling, labeling, and packaging machines.
Assist with production line monitoring and report any issues to senior specialists or supervisors.
Perform basic routine inspections and assist with preventative maintenance (PMs) tasks as directed.
Set up hoses for bottling runs (still, champagne, mimosa) under guidance from senior team members.
Learn and assist with CleaninPlace (CIP) procedures.
Assist with mixer setup under supervision.
Count basic inventory items accurately.
Learn to utilize winery apps, including Knack, Innovint, and other systems.
Assist senior specialists with machine setup and changeovers.
Learn bottle molds and changeover parts identification.
Complete daily checklists for bottling line and quality control with oversight.
Verify corks, caps, crowns, wire hoods, and other bottling items are correct.
Assist with machine teardown when applicable.
Assist with receiving grape trucks as scheduled.
Support grape press operations under supervision.
Perform daily duties, including pack on, pack off, and stacking.
Record production data and report issues to supervisors promptly.
Maintain compliance with all company policies, ASI guidelines, and OSHA regulations.
Actively participate in training programs to develop machinery operation skills.
Cellar Operations
Assist with wine transfers between tanks under supervision, learning proper hose connections and valve operations.
Monitor tank temperatures and report any anomalies to senior specialists or supervisors.
Learn basic operation of the FOSS wine analyzer under guidance.
Assist with wine additions (SO2, fining agents, etc.) as directed by senior staff.
Learn to read and interpret tank gauges and level indicators.
Assist with tank cleaning and sanitation procedures.
Help maintain the organization of cellar hoses, fittings, and equipment.
Document cellar activities accurately in logs and tracking systems.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
High school diploma or GED required.
Ability to follow instructions and learn new procedures quickly.
Basic mechanical aptitude with a willingness to develop troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Previous experience in machine operation, food/beverage production, or manufacturing environment preferred but not required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Physical Requirements
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds or more on a repetitive basis.
Work standing up and walking on concrete surfaces for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in a cold and wet environment (consistently 60-65 degrees), for 3-4 months per year 30-40 degrees.
Ability to climb ladders.
